Compared to neighbouring Council areas, Canada Bay has very few places for people to cross busy roads. Council and State Government has installed a number of 'road refuges' that could easily be converted to pedestrian crossings for children, walkers, cyclists, elderly pedestrians, parents with prams and dog walkers
Why is this important?
It is a key road safety matter and is in everybody's interest. Drivers have no need to stop for pedestrians and people, including elderly and children, can be stranded on refuge islands for way too long waiting to cross to parks, walks, cafes etc.
