Chief Health Officer Rosemary Lester must announce an inquiry into the long-term health impact of the Hazelwood Mine fire on Morwell residents.
Morwell residents can’t move on from the Hazelwood Mine disaster until they know what long-term health problems they and their families can expect. An inquiry will give residents the vital health information they need to prepare for the future and take the health precautions they need to now.
Why is this important?
For 45 days, Morwell's 14,000 residents breathed carbon monoxide, carcinogens and other toxic fumes caused by the out-of-control fire at Hazelwood Mine. We are deeply worried about how such long exposure will affect our future health.
Morwell residents have been suffering from headaches, bloody noses and bleeding eyes, difficulty breathing, lethargy, agitation, reported heart problems and infections. Morwell residents desperately need an inquiry!
Ms Lester has the power to announce an inquiry and we need her to do this now!
Please sign this petition and share it as wide as you can to persuade Ms Lester to announce an inquiry into the long-term health impacts!
Thank you, we really appreciate your help.
How it will be delivered
We will deliver the petition in person to Chief Health Officer Rosemary Lester.
