No more fireworks for Australia
To the Australian Federal,State and Territory Governments.
Change one small step at a time is what this country and world needs.
I would like to request all the funds that would usually be allocated to firework displays at the end of 2020 to be immediately redirected to funding the current needs of our volunteer firefighters.
Celebrations as community's are important so I would like to suggest you formerly seek submissions from our creative communities for alternative spectacular celebrations at both State and Federal levels.
Surely we as a nation can stand up and show the world that we have moved on from pyrotechnics as the only way to celebrate the in coming NEW Year.
To say the use of fireworks is old technology is an understatement and regardless of the fire ban status on the day in a particular part of the country. We really can lead the world in creative innovative alternatives that won't put more smoke into our atmosphere or trigger a bush fire big or small.
Hopefully the new alternative celebrations will allow for our pet dogs to sleep easy as well.
200 BC -- 800 AD: The Birth of Fireworks
Like many inventions, firecrackers fireworks were created by accident... and by the search for immortality. Around 200 BC, the Chinese unintentionally invented firecrackers by tossing bamboo into fire, but it took another thousand years before true fireworks came alive.Jul 1, 2015
