Polling Booths for Roebourne WA
The Karratha Shire Council and local ALP state member need to ensure polling booths are available in Roebourne which has a majority indigenous population. Roebourne locals are missing out on their democratic participation because postal voting is fraught w complications for many of the locals. This in effect excludes them from voting as it’s very easy to make errors on postal votes, which are then rejected. Having a polling booth would encourage more locals would join in voting and in the decisions being made at Council and who sits on Council.
Why is this important?
The lack of having accessible polling booths in Roebourne works against locals, especially indigenous locals, from participating in all local, State and Federal elections.
