Smart Drum Lines for Forster
Smart Drum Lines that used to be off the Forster Coastline have been removed by the DPI with no direct consultation with the surfing or local community. These Smart Drum Lines are proven scientifically to be a proactive and useful Shark Mitigation tool to protect our ocean users without harming other marine creatures.
Why is this important?
Forster's beautiful coastline is one of the major tourism draw cards to the area and a place where lots of locals have grown up being in the water. The Smart Drum Lines target specific species and will help restore a sense of security when using the beaches in the area especially after what occurred at Tuncurry Beach recently.
