Stop TCC demolishing the iconic and functional amenities at Freemasons Park Pallarenda

The amenities are earmarked to be demolished, to be "upgraded" to an ugly steel toilet block
These amenities are part of Pallarenda's cultural heritage. They are aesthetically pleasing with solid brick walls, terracotta tiles with seahorse motifs, terracotta roof tiles and decorative windows with beach motives
They are very functional with separate toilets and area for private shower and clean change room. This makes them family friendly as whole families can shower and get changed in private
The steel replacements are toilet only, and similar to those on Magnetic Island which can get hot and smelly, and not appropriate to use as a change room.
If a toilet needs to be built to be disabled friendly and unisex, why cannot TCC build just one toilet for this use?
Demolishing the present facilities and "upgrading" them with facilities that are toilet only is a waste of ratepayers money, building just one toilet would be a lot cheaper
TCC needs to preserve what is left of Townsville's heritage

Why is this important?

It is important we retain Pallarenda's cultural heritage and these facilities represent Australia's seaside charm from a previous era. The present facilities are aesthetically pleasing and functional as they include toilets, private shower and private change room, in complete contrast to the ugly steel toilet block proposed for the "upgrade", which only provide toilets
