Chevron Island's Local Community Pantry
I’m reaching out to you hoping that we can get your support and help in getting involved with the community pantry initiative that I together with some of the locals of Chevron Island want to start in our island – where the locals can give what they can and take what they need. We don’t often see or hear people struggling here in our little community, but we are aware that there are a few people who lives here who need to feel that there is hope and that they can get some help and feel that people in our community cares.
We already have a small cabinet box to use and there have been a lot of interest from the locals & business owners of Chevron Island to donate non-perishable food (tinned tuna, soup, tea/ coffee bags, etc) and other basic stuff (toiletries, feminine hygiene products, etc).
The only thing we need now is just a place to put the community pantry where people can easily access it.
We were hoping we can place it somewhere at Korman Park or Stanhill Park where there is some shelter, like under a tree? Or if you can propose any other location that you think would suit the little pantry, we would be open to it too. The box cabinet is only 55cm W x 47cm D x 78cm H so it won’t take too much space.
I hope we can make it work so we can start the little community pantry before Christmas – it will be a great Christmas present for the locals of Chevron Island and the community of Surfers Paradise.

Why is this important?
We need to be able to help and support our local community without them having to ask and beg for basic necessities such as food and toiletries. A little goes a long way.
How it will be delivered
We will email the signatures to Cr Darren Taylor.
