Stop the closure of Commonwealth Bank branch in Coogee
We the undersigned residents of Coogee and surrounding suburbs request that the CEO of the Commonwealth Bank (Matt Comyn) not proceed with the closure of the CBA branch in Coogee Bay Road Coogee NSW.
The CBA branch in Coogee Bay Road is the last bank in the Coogee area and is relied upon by many locals particularly the elderly and the many residents without cars. If the branch closes, the nearest CBA branch will be Randwick, a 30 minute walk uphill from much of Coogee. Coogee has one of the lowest rates of car ownership in relation to people per household in NSW. Small business will also suffer if the Coogee branch of the CBA closes. The Coogee village main street is a busy and thriving business area and businesses rely on the local CBA branch particularly for cash transactions.
We call upon the Federal Minister for Finance (Kate Gallagher), our local Federal Member (Matt Thistlethwaite) and the NSW State Treasurer ((Daniel Mookhey), to make representations to the CBA on our behalf. We also bring this petition to the attention of the local MP Marjorie O'Neill and the Mayor of Randwick (Philipa Veitch), and ask that they also make representations to the CBA and the State and Federal government, on our behalf.
